Dr. Mikhail Higgins - Ivy League trained Interventional Radiologist
An experienced interventional radiologist in the Bahamas, Dr. Mikhail Higgins practices at the Bahamas Fibroid and Interventional Clinic at Family Medicine Center, where he specializes in minimally invasive interventions, including endovascular management of uterine fibroids, compression fractures, liver and renal tumors, and deep vein thrombosis. Dr. Mikhail Higgins previously worked as an assistant professor in interventional radiology at Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center where he was an inductee in the institution's Clinical Excellence Society. In addition to serving as the program director for the Department of Radiology's Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology(ESIR) Pathway, he was also the Director of Medical Student Selective and Electives.
Dr. Mikhail Higgins has extensive medical training, including a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he was a member of the MD/RN Committee, Diversity Consortium and also served as the Quality Assurance Liaison for the Division of Angiography and Interventional Radiology. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a 4th year Concentration in Interventional Radiology. He completed a transitional year in medicine and surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He earned his MD from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and holds a master of public health in health care administration and health care policy from Yale University.
Passionate about combating physician Burnout and supporting the Wellness of those in the medical field, Dr. Mikhail Higgins has delivered presentations on preventing and mitigating Burnout and was a member of the inaugural Wellness and Professional Vitality Steering Committee and Graduate Medical Education Wellness Committee at Boston Medical Center. His scientific article on Burnout amongst faculty radiologists in North America which was published in the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR) was voted the best article in the Leadership category in 2021, earning him a Best of JACR award.
Dr. Higgins is also a certified yoga instructor and President of Paradise Wellness Retreats (PWR), a Wellness optimization retreat company based in the Bahamas focused on offering Vitality, Resilience and global Wellness optimization strategies and experiences for corporate groups, high performance professionals and special patient groups such as women with fibroids.
